African Americans and Hispanics continue to lag behind other racial and ethnic groups in high school physics taking. Overall, 39% of high school seniors in 2013 would have taken at least one high school physics class before graduation; yet, physics taking by these two groups remain below 30%. Using data from our 2012-13 Nationwide Survey of High School Physics Teachers, we examine the relationship between socioeconomics and physics taking by race.
