Hispanic Participation among Bachelor’s in Physical Sciences and Engineering

This report summarizes Hispanic earned bachelor’s degrees among 15 fields in the physical sciences and engineering between 2002 and 2012. While Hispanics are still underrepresented among degree recipients, there has been an increased attainment of bachelor’s degrees that is encouraging. In the physical sciences there was an increase of 77% in number of bachelor’s degrees earned by Hispanics in the US from 2002 to 2012. Degree rates for Hispanics in the US increased in all of the nine identified fields of engineering, accounting for an overall increase of 64% across engineering during the last decade.
