Computing Advancements for Materials Science Act
Purpose
To provide for a fundamental research program for the application of advanced computing practices to materials science challenges at the Department of Energy, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
  • Directs the Department of Energy to fund up to four “computational materials and chemistry science centers” and to support development of a database that contains “computed information on known and predicted materials properties and computational tools to accelerate breakthroughs in materials discovery and design”
  • Recommends Congress provide DOE $10 million annually over 10 years to support the centers and the materials properties database
