Securing Energy for our Armed Forces Using Engineering Leadership Act of 2019
Purpose
To require the Secretary of Defense to carry out the Direct Air Capture and Blue Carbon Removal Technology Program, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Directs the Department of Defense to carry out a blue carbon capture and direct air capture research, development, and demonstration program in coordination with other agencies
- Recommends the program receive $8 million for R&D activities in fiscal year 2020 and $10 million annually for fiscal year 2021 through 2023
- Recommends the program receive $15 million for test and evaluation activities annually for fiscal years 2024 through 2026
