Preserve Science in Policymaking Act of 2019
Purpose
To prohibit the termination of advisory committees before the end of their charter unless authorized by law, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Amends the Federal Advisory Committee Act to prohibit the president or any federal official from terminating an advisory committee established under that law, unless authorized by law or it is with the unanimous conseent of the relevant agency’s chief data officer, chief evaluation officer, and chief information officer
- Requires notification of Congress and a public notice and comment period if a committee is terminated under the provisions of the legislation
