Low-Dose Radiation Research Act of 2017
Purpose
To amend the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to provide for a low-dose radiation basic research program.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Directs the Department of Energy to undertake a program on the effects of low doses of radiation, and to engage with other agencies and stakeholder communities.
- Directs DOE to formulate a research plan identifying and prioritizing basic research needs in the field of low dose radiation.
- Authorizes funding of $20 million per year for the program, rising to $30 million in 2020.
