IRA Charitable Rollover
An IRA rollover allows people age 70 1/2 and older to reduce their taxable income by making a gift directly from their IRA.
Benefits of an IRA charitable rollover
- Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000 from your IRA to our organization
- Satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year
- Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions
- Make a gift that is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts
- Help further the work and mission of AIP
How an IRA charitable rollover gift works
Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA. Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to our organization to help continue AIP’s important work. Please note that IRA charitable rollover gifts do not qualify as a charitable deduction.
Steps to making a charitable contribution from your IRA
- Inform your IRA custodian (Fidelity, Schwab, TIAA, etc.): Let your custodian know you want to donate your qualified charitable distribution to AIP Foundation.
- Choose a charity: Select AIP Foundation
- Make the donation: Your custodian will cut a check to AIP Foundation on your behalf and send it to the organization. You can also choose to mail the check to the AIP Foundation if your custodian mails it to you.
You may have to fill out a form from your IRA custodian, and you will need to provide AIP Foundation information.
A check would be made payable to AIP Foundation.
