Airplanes use a lot of fuel, and burning all that fuel releases carbon dioxide, which contributes to global warming. To reduce flying’s impact on the planet, scientists are taking a closer look at the complex fuels that power planes. The ultimate goal is to design fuels that will take planes further with fewer harmful emissions.
