Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act
Purpose
To reauthorize the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Authorizes Department of Education’s Basic State Grants, National Programs, and Tribally Controlled Postsecondary Career and Technical Institutions programs
- Allows states to set performance goals with input from local CTE communities instead of from DOEd
- Directs DOEd to establish a grant program that would identify and support innovative strategies and activities to improve CTE and align workforce skills with labor market needs
