Background

Yaswant Devarakonda received his Ph.D. in Astronomy with a focus in Applied Statistics from Texas A&M in 2023, where he studied the ultraviolet properties of Type Ia supernovae. Prior to this fellowship, Yaswant was the John N. Bahcall Fellow for Public Policy at the American Astronomical Society, where he worked on issues such as funding for science, space sustainability, dark & quiet skies protection, and STEM infrastructure. He hopes to expand his work in space policy at the international level through this fellowship to ensure that access to space remains sustainable and equitable.
