About the Winner
Dr. Harold W. Thompson has as a Foreign Secretary of the Royal Society. He also served in many ways with the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry. He was Chairman of the Union’s Commission on Molecular Structure and Spectroscopy, 1955-1961. Dr. Thompson also served as Chairman of the Union’s Editorial Board in 1957, and as president of the International Council of Scientific Unions in 1961.
