JAN 02, 1972
For taking the lead in creating the European Physical Society.
About the Winner
Dr. Gilberto Bernardini has been the guiding spirt in the creation of the European Physical Society. Though the ideas of such an organization had been proposed and discussed for a considerable time, its realization occurred only after Dr. Bernardini personally took the lead in the actual planning. His enormous energy combined with the strength of his convictions as a humanist were essential to the ultimate success of this truly international cooperative venture in physics.
