Advancing Grid Storage Act of 2019
Purpose
To require the Secretary of Energy to carry out an energy storage research program, loan program, and technical assistance and grant program, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Directs the Department of Energy to establish an energy storage research program within its Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability and recommends funding the program at $50 million
- Establishes a loan program within DOE to finance demonstration and deployment projects for energy storage systems
- Directs DOE to provide technical assistance and grants that support the identification, evaluation, planning, and design of energy storage systems. It recommends the program receive $250 million for fiscal years 2020 to 2024
