About
Saffell earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado Boulder, followed by an MBA at Johns Hopkins University. He refined his expertise in scientific nonprofit leadership, management, and strategic planning during his tenure as a Senior Manager in Global Stakeholder Engagement at US Pharmacopeia and at the American Chemical Society where he served as the Assistant Secretary, Special Assistant to the President and Secretary, and Industry Relations Program Manager.
Throughout his career, Saffell has demonstrated a commitment to uplifting the work of scientists and engaging with scientific societies, stakeholders, and policymakers to promote the physical sciences. As a leader and advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect initiatives, Saffell helped establish a Chief Diversity Officers’ network among Fortune 500 chemical companies to share best practices and increase representation in the industry.
