Department of Energy Coastal Research Initiative Act
Purpose
To establish a coastal zone research initiative at the Department of Energy, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Directs the Department of Energy to launch a Coastal Zone Research Initiative that would create an “integrated system of geographically diverse field research sites” to improve observational data concerning major land-water interfaces of the U.S., such as the Great Lakes region, coastlines, and the Arctic
- Instructs DOE to carry out the initiative in consultation with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and other relevant agencies
